Beta Club Sponsors Blood Drive
The high school Beta Club has organized a blood drive again this year, hosted on the campus of Silverdale Baptist Academy and working out of mobile donation buses from Blood Assurance. Everyone in the community is encouraged to stop in and give this coming Monday, February 22nd between the hours of 8:30am and 4:00pm. You can even register for a time slot online by clicking here. The buses will be parked out back close to the upper school entrance. Help spread the word, and we hope to see you there!
Guatemala Adventure
Interact Sponsored Mission Trip: Partnering with AMG International, our Interact Club will be sponsoring a return trip to Cubulco, Guatemala from June 11-18th, 2016. We invite all high school students (and families) to participate in the distribution of water filters to needy families and also in helping in the construction of a new hospital. The all-inclusive cost is $1,612 for each team member. This takes care of airfare and all travel and food costs. Knowledge of Spanish is helpful, but not required. Please contact Mrs. Nikki Bautista by email if you are interested. NOTE: A $100.00 non-refundable down payment is required by March 1, 2016.
GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS:
- Teacher Appreciation Week - March 7-11: PTF is facilitating a week of fun, food, and surprises to show our staff how much we appreciate them. Please send in a cash donation and PTF will take care of purchasing gift cards. You may also send in $5.00 gift cards. Please turn in any donations by February 22nd. If you would like to donate a door prize, that is greatly appreciated as well. Thank you for your help in showing our staff how much they are valued and appreciated. Please see your most recent email with more detailed information.
- IMPORTANT: If you have carpool needs for your children, the best avenue to make this happen is through our Silverdale Parents Facebook page. Create a free personal Facebook account if you haven’t already, then request to join the group. An admin will approve your request ASAP.
- PTF needs volunteers for the Decorating Committee and the Hospitality Committee. It is a great way to contribute to SBA! Please contact Tracie Sutton (trasut16@aol.com or 423-645-0625) if you are interested in being a PTF Volunteer. Let your gift of service shine!
- FINANCIAL INFORMATION: Please remember payments are due on the 1st of each month and late after the 5th (late charge $20). If accounts are not current, your Renweb accounts will be blocked. Please contact the financial office if you have questions regarding your account. - Congratulations to fourth grader Ravina Talwar, who placed first in the 2016 Hamilton County 4H Public Speaking Contest! She will go on to compete in the state competition. Way to go Ravina!

- February 19th: Spirit Day, students may wear jeans with no holes and any SBA shirt

Tuesday, March 1st: MANDATORY parent meeting on the topic of online safety, 6:30pm in the sanctuary. We will also introduce the STOPit app, endorsed by anti-bullying expert and recent SBA guest conference speaker Paul Coughlin. At least one parent should be in attendance. Due to the nature of the material to be discussed, students will not be permitted to attend.

- Congratulations to two of our band members, Colby Werner and Wes Corwine, who will be playing with the UTC Honors Band this weekend. Congratulations also to Mr. Stephen Humphries who is doing such a great job helping our young musicians develop their God-given talents. You are a blessing Mr. Humphrie! - Senior Talks continue on Tuesday, March 1st with Briana Dillard, Trinity Longwith, and Jenna McLain.
- Spirit Day: Friday, February 19th, high school will be sponsoring Spirit Day. PTF has graciously offered to give the proceeds of this Spirit Day to benefit the senior trip to Greece. We ask that all high school students contribute at least 1 dozen of the following items listed by grade:
- 9th Grade - any kind of single serve drinks that are not soda products (water, Powerade, Capri Sun, Kool Aid, V8) OR single serve bags of salty snacks (Cheez-its, Chex Mix, Peanuts)
- 10th Grade - Homemade items (cookies, brownies, cupcakes)
- 11th Grade - Any Candy - sour, chewy sells well
- 12th Grade - Candy bars, donuts (Seniors going on the senior trip should bring ring pops, donuts or homemade baked goods)
- Help the High School Yearbook by uploading your photos of school events and activities. See the info in the graphic below.
