Four 8th grade students were chosen by their teachers to attend the 29th annual Youth Trust Program sponsored by the YMCA.  They attended a fall retreat at Camp Ocoee with middle schoolers from all over the greater Hamilton County area schools.  They were chosen because they love a challenge, show leadership skills, and love people.  This program teaches leadership and responsibility through challenge iniatives, small group discussions, and presentations from leaders throughout the Chattanooga community.  Some topics covered were teamwork, peer pressure, drug abuse, conflict resolution, responsibility, respect, and how to make tough choices.

Students have been working on art projects, essays, and research projects in preparations for next month's celebration of our nation's veterans. Our keynote speaker for this year's event will be Lieutenant Commander Timothy White, the Navy officer who returned fire during the July 16, 2015 attack on the Navy Operational Support Center here in Chattanooga. We hope you'll make plans to join us for what will be one of the most powerful events we host all year.
