A Private Christian School Engaging Hearts and Minds

Senior Send-Off 2015

May 24, 2015

The faculty and staff of Silverdale Baptist Academy wanted to leave the graduating class of 2015 with some walks down memory lane, and words of wisdom as they venture into the next chapter of their lives:

 Mrs. Robin Williams

"This was my first group to teach at SBA. A few of them were also in my pre-K class too! It is really neat for me to see how their personalities have stayed the same, for the most part, even though they have matured and grown into young men and women. Be open to see what the Lord has in store for you, even if it's not in your plans! Let God use your life to do amazing things for His Kingdom! Congratulations on your accomplishments! I will be there cheering for you on May 22."

Mrs. Micaleah Parker

"Dear Class of 2015, wow...what a pleasure it has been!  You will always be my first senior class at SBA and I'm so glad it was you.  You all made me feel welcomed from day one.  You made me smile on a daily basis.  You made me laugh on a daily basis.  I am a better person because I know you.  I will miss seeing your sweet faces, hearing you laugh, and gather around your lockers outside my office door.  You will do amazing things and we couldn't be more proud of you.  Always put God first, remember where you came from, and always come back to visit.  We love you so much.  Congrats....you did it!"

Mrs. Angela Boggess

"Best of luck to all of you! It's been so fun watching a lot of you grow up at Silverdale. You are an amazing group of young adults, and you will be deeply missed! My advice is, always keep Christ first in every decision you have to make. Never stop speaking to Him, because He never gets tired of hearing from you!"

Mrs. Becky Hansard

"Dear Children, Oh how dear you are to my heart. Each of you. Many of you I have watched grow since preschool here at SBA. I have watched you love each other, dislike each other, defend each other,  and support each other. You are that first generation who has had most of your successes and failures broadcasted on social media as opposed to the school "grapevine." And you have navigated that social media minefield and come out on the other side with yourselves and your dignity intact. Congratulations.  Remember what you have learned.  Be kind.  I pray God's direction will be your default in every area of your lives.  You are grand. Each of you - simply divine. I love you."

Mrs. Brenda Rayburn

"The talent and leadership of these four seniors, Nathan, Hunter, Jonathan and Cooper will be greatly missed. Jonathan has been in the Praise Band for two years and has been foundational in everything. He is dependable and a great player with a gentle spirit. Cooper was in the band last year and really carried much of the melodic parts, assisting those who were new to the band setting. He came back second semester this year and has been the one who added whatever was needed because of his flexibility. Nathan and Hunter both joined us second semester this year too. Hunter added consistent rhythm and Nathan not only played keys, but gave us a fantastic male vocal. Their musicianship is excellent, but their leadership and their ability to encourage and inspire the younger players is what we will miss the most."

Mrs. Kim Thompson

"To all the seniors who passed through the halls of the Elementary School, I want to say that it has been my joy to watch you grow up. From the classroom to the athletic field, from the playground to the theatrical and musical stage, you will be missed but we are better because you have passed this way. May you press in close to Jesus as you enter this new adventure of life. I love you."

Mrs. Nikki Bautista

"Dear Homeroom 9, 10, 11 and 12-B: Having seen you almost every day of the week for the last 4 years, I can't say there is any one particular memory that jumps out at me, since time has melded so many moments together. However, I can share with you the indelible impression that you have left on my life and heart. Who knew in those first few moments I met most of you as little 9th graders coming in my room to get your locks and bringing me mountains of Kleenex, hand sanitizer and wipes, that I could come to love a more disparate group of kids like this? We didn't know each other well those first few days. I know most of you were scared to death of me--although that might have come from watching me shoot and not miss any of the targets on our first trip to Horn's Creek--but not as much as I was of you. For both of us, our reputation, much of it undeserved, preceded us. What a surprise and joy it has been to learn that we are so much more than what others say about us. Over time, I have come to love and value each of you more than I can express. I love your desire to be different (not just in class pictures--think hair, glasses and collars) and eagerness to get up and go (beyond the fact that it was lunch time and you wanted to beat the others to the line.) It was uncanny how you knew to be dismissed, even when I moved the clock back 5 minutes. I didn't teach many of you, but did get to know you by working along side you on our service projects. We have cleaned buildings and yards, stacked and sorted cans and clothes, washed tables and toilets together, so perhaps the deepest impression that you have left with me, is not just being different, but making a difference. On our last project together, working at that church to clean and arrange the kitchen, move furniture, and build shelves, it came to me that this was what made you--you. You are the class that wants to, and will, do something. Seeing your heart for others, your uncomplaining attitude in serving and desire to help those less fortunate has marked my life in ways I can't express and will ever forget. Thank you for the last 4 years. I certainly know we didn't have much of a choice, but I am so very glad and blessed to have spent it with you. And yes, you may now leave."

Mrs. Margarita Ioannidis

"Dear students of the 2015 graduating class: In looking at the past year, there are so many memories of you that I will cherish forever! From the enlightening and invigorating literature discussion in our DE Composition II class, to the senior retreat at the beginning of the year and the bonding time we had together, to taking pictures downtown, to luncheons in Mrs. Hansard's house, to the senior trip to Greece with the so many highlights, spiritual insights and fun moments we enjoyed together! All the "panorama" pictures we took this year, literally and metaphorically, remind me of how much you have enriched my life and I thank the Lord for the rich contributions you have made in our school community! I love you all very much and I pray that God will continue to work in your lives and use the amazing skills, abilities and knowledge you have gained for the glory of His name!"

"4 years has flown by.  You guys are family and will be missed. Seek God first in everything you do and he will direct your path.  The memories of the state tournament run will never be forgotten!"

Mrs. Roslyn McCoy

"This class makes me smile even today!  I learned the first week with them in middle school that they have the huge capacity for fun, they are intense in their quest to do things well, and they have big hearts.  This class was one that set the bar high in middle school for serving others.  They just enjoyed each other and enjoy people.  My prayer for them is that they keep striving to serve God and continue to love people.

Micah 6:8 says, 'He has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.'

Class of 2015, that verse is my prayer for you and I will be praying for you as you leave SBA on May 22.  God will surely do great things through you."

Mrs. Sarah Johnson

"I have taught some of these seniors for nearly four years of high school. They have pushed themselves in many ways, not only academically but spiritually, physically, and emotionally. I'm so proud of you guys for so many reasons, but primarily because you did not settle or give up! Continue to stay focused, keep pushing yourself outside of your comfort zone, and let the uncertainties make your dependence on Christ's strength even more solid. Love you guys!"

Mrs. Diane Alosi

"Dear Class of 2015, You were my very first class at SBA.  You were precious 1st graders!  I had the blessing of seeing you again in the 5th grade.  What an honor it has been to watch you grow into the incredible young men and women that you are!  Some of you I have known from the beginning and some of you I have met along the way.  You may have  joined our SBA family later but still, you are family.

As you leave this place, hold on to all you have learned.  God has allowed you to be in a place where His Word has been poured into you.  You now have the honor of sharing that with others. "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of power and love and discipline."
2 Timothy 1:7

You are a unique and incredible creation of the God who created the universe. Go and be all that He desires you to be.  Seek wholeheartedly all that He has for you to do.  He has a unique and incredible plan for each of you.

Come back and visit!

Much love, many prayers."

Mrs. Ginger Pierce

"Class of 2015, It's been such an honor and privilege to watch you grow over the past four years. Some of you I've had in homeroom since you were freshmen; I got to know all of you last year as juniors in Bible class. And, I've gotten the privilege of teaching some of you again this year either in AP Psychology or the one section of Worldview that I still teach. You are a special group and I will miss you very much as you head on to the next phase of your lives. Remember that you have been incredibly blessed in your lives so far. You are among few in the world who have been given the opportunity to freely hear about and openly worship the One True God if you so choose. The Truth has been shared with you, but it is up to you whether or not you will live in light of it. My prayer is that you will remember what you've been taught and that you will let the seed of Truth grow in your hearts and bear fruit in your lives. I'll leave you with the words of the Apostle Paul to his disciple Timothy: "Retain the standard of sound words which you have heard from me, in the faith and love which are in Christ Jesus. Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you" (II Timothy 1:13-14).

I love you all."

"Dear Class of 2015,  Many of you have been at SBA longer than I have, but your class has been a part of each of my six years here. From trips to ball games, dances to classes, we have laughed, cried, and learned together. I've had a hard time trying to put into words what all I hope and pray for you all, so since a picture is worth a thousand words, I hope this is a book's worth of happy memories for each of you.

Much love and many blessings."

Mrs. Rebecca Lusardo

"Tiffany Majors understood the true meaning of "Do Something." While most students would run away from a kindergarten classroom, Tiffany ran to help with our class.  There wasn't a project so messy that would keep her away.  She always was willing to help anyone.  She has been a blessing to all of us, and we will greatly miss her!"
