Preschoolers Visit The Apple Orchard

IMG_1576Holly from Apple Valley Orchard in Cleveland, TN, shows our preschoolers a hybrid apple that has produced on its own at the orchard. As the story goes, about 40 years ago a storm blew a limb from one variety of apple tree that grafted itself into the limb of another variety of apple tree. From that time until now, the tree produced just one of the new hybrid apples split right down the middle; one side was Red Delicious and the other side was Golden Delicious, each having the distinct flavor of the variety they were. And during our field trip, a 2nd hybrid apple was discovered - only the 2nd one produced in 40 years! No one yet knows how it tastes, but it sure was exciting to be a part of Apple Valley Orchard's history of this special apple!

Thank You, Parents!

DMA_8633 The message went out and 48 hours later, our parents had donated $3,000 towards a campus golf cart. Our maintenance and security staff will benefit greatly from this donation. Thank you for your generosity!
