HIRED: Assistant Director of Outdoor Education

April 26, 2022

We are thrilled to announce the hire of Kim Bates as the new Assistant Director of Outdoor Education at Silverdale Baptist Academy beginning in the 2022-2023 school year! Kim holds a B.S. in Secondary Education: English from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and has been teaching at Silverdale since 2010. Since its inception, Mrs. Bates has been active in the Outdoor Education program and currently coaches Silverdale’s rock climbing team and heads the mountain bike club.

She recently developed an Outdoor Adventure and Recreation Fitness course, designed to introduce students to various outdoor adventure activities including hiking, mountain biking, trail running, archery, and more.

The goal is for students to experience the health benefits of exercising in the great outdoors while learning new skills along the way!

She enjoys spending time in the outdoors hiking, biking, trail running, and boating. Her favorite activities are traveling and exploring God’s creation with her family.

"I am passionate about building strong relationships with the students, families, and community here at Silverdale; I am also passionate about health, fitness, and the outdoors, and I am thankful that Silverdale Baptist Academy is committed to supporting programs that enhance these areas."

We are so grateful for the strong foundation that current Assistant Director of Outdoor Education Sandy Greene has provided the program and pray for continued blessings as she shifts her focus to home and family. Thank you, Mrs. Greene!
