Springtime is showing up all around us and with our new reality of staying home to curb the spread of the coronavirus, we all have to make a conscious effort to maintain a positive mindset and a heart of thankfulness. So how can we do that?
- First and foremost we have to declare our dependence on God; In our weakness, He is our strength and He can give us all that we need for life and godliness. 2 Peter 1:3 says - “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.”
- Second, we need to choose to abide in the Vine, Jesus Christ. Our faith in God is the lifeline that gives us strength to live each day for His glory, regardless of our circumstances. John 15:5 - “I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.”
- Third, we have to secure our hope in the anchor or our souls, which is Jesus Christ. That is the only way we have hope in the midst of all the uncertainties in the journey of life. Colossians 1:27 - “…Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
- Finally, we need to rest in the love of God that he has lavished on us and share that love with our families and with the people He has placed in our spheres of influence. 1 John 3:1 - “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.”
So what is the recipe? Dependence on God, Faith, Hope, and Love. And remember that the greatest of these is love!
1 Corinthians 13:13: “So now these three remain: faith, hope, and love; but the greatest of these is love.”
