Welcome from the Director
It is our desire here at Silverdale to provide programming for students that have a myriad of learning differences. We believe that the Lord has called us to open our doors to students that need modifications within their academic environment.
These students reside within our traditional academic setting and within a specialized program designed to therapeutically address their processing challenges and learning delays. We offer classroom consultation done on a student-by-student basis that addresses the students processing issues within the classroom. We offer some Resource programming that is done on a pull out basis, either individually or in small groups.
SBA also offers a program for students whose processing issues warrant a more specialized type of learning environment, known as the IMPACT program. IMPACT's staff is trained to address each student’s particular learning style. They teach using the mode that helps the student to best absorb and learn the curriculum while working on strengthening their diagnosed processing weaknesses through therapeutics and academic modifications. This combination increases the student's overall academic success.
IMPACT serves students in Kindergarten through twelfth grade, the primary populations being children with moderate to severe learning disabilities. It offers an educational and therapeutic program designed to improve the student’s perceptual capabilities and cognitive processing through neurological stimulation. Each student is assessed prior to entering the program and some specific challenges that our students face includes dyslexia, auditory processing problems, visual processing problems, ADD, Asperger’s, and sensory motor concerns.
IMPACT utilizes a multi-sensory curriculum designed to maximize the student’s strengths while minimizing their weaknesses. Students are educated in small groups which best addresses their attention needs and allows for more individualized instruction. They are also daily lead by a trained Pediatric Occupational Therapist in NeuroNet. In addition auditory therapy and vision exercises are done throughout the school year with the students based on their individual diagnoses
All children are image bearers of Christ. It is our desire to partner with parents to help these students reach their true God given potential!
I hope you enjoy your online visit, and I welcome your calls if you would like additional information.
