A Private Christian School Engaging Hearts and Minds

The Roadmap: Practical Applications

We believe it is essential that your children return to school with learning, activities, and friends, and that is what we plan on doing.

What will it look like?

  • Day-to-day activities might look slightly different, but your children will still be receiving the rich experience that they have come to know and love at Silverdale!
  • Our goal is to make the school experience as normal as possible. However, it is important to remember that things will look different as we must consider safety guidelines as suggested by the CDC and our state and local health officials.
  • Desks will be arranged to provide for physical distancing, when feasible, and when not, other protective measures will be in place.
  • Our Outdoor Education team is planning additional opportunities for all of our students to increase the amount of class time spent outside.
  • Everyone will observe the CDC hygiene protocols and there will be continuous cleaning of the facilities throughout the day and evening. Weekly deep cleaning of the entire building ensures the safety of our students, faculty, and staff. This deep clean, which occurs each Sunday evening, is the equivalent of the cleaning practices used by Hamilton County public schools in the event they have a school closure. We have chosen to deep clean weekly in an effort to avoid closing the entire school each time we have a positive COVID case.
  • The Academy (students/parents, faculty, and staff) will use a web platform called Ascend for daily health screening purposes before being allowed on campus.
  • New protocols for drop-off and pick-up will be in effect.
  • Students will eat lunch in their classrooms or outside as much as possible.

What is the Hybrid Teaching Model?

The Hybrid Teaching Model gives your family a choice.

While we would like to see all of our Silverdale families on campus, some may not feel comfortable yet returning to the traditional classroom right away, which is why we are offering a hybrid model for this coming year. The Hybrid Teaching Model will give your family the opportunity to decide whether you want your children to either learn on campus or at home using our new Learning Management System.

Our teachers will receive training on our new Learning Management System this summer and they will be preparing to deliver lessons in real-time (synchronously) to any families who choose to stay home due to concerns or complications related to COVID-19 or due to illness. We also plan to offer training this summer for our parents on our new Learning Management System because, should conditions concerning COVID-19 force Silverdale into the Orange Phase or Red Phase of our Roadmap to Return to Campus, we want the transition to Virtual Campus Operations to be seamless.

In our parent surveys, you let us know that you preferred for your child to have synchronous lessons so any child that has to be home will now be able to turn on his or her home device at 8:00 a.m. and experience classroom instruction from the child’s teacher.

There will be other information to follow as things unfold. For now, you as the parent will have the choice to decide how you want your child to experience his or her education this upcoming school year.

Please continue to pray with us as our primary goal is to love your children and keep them safe while giving them an excellent educational experience with a Biblical worldview.
