Back to The Roadmap: FAQ

Q: Will there be any interaction between classes among the same grade levels? Will kids see their friends on campus at all if they happen to not be in the same class with them?

A: Honestly, this is a tough question. We hate that the kids won't get to be with other friends outside of their homeroom as we go back to school in K-6th grade. We are just doing our best to keep them as safe as possible. We feel that cohorting the homerooms is the best way to do that and keep them on campus.

Q: Are children 12 and under wearing masks at all times, or only in the hallways and carline?

A: The elementary students will wear masks in common areas and carline. Elementary students will only wear masks in the classrooms when students are involved in learning activities that require them to be closer than the recommended 6 ft. distance.

Q: Will there be clear shields around students' desks?

A: Some desks or tables within the classroom will have plexishields. Other desks will just be physically distanced.

Q: How will orientation be set up for kindergarten students? In-person only or also virtual options?

A: The kindergarten teacher will schedule a virtual meeting with all kindergarten families.

Q: Will there be BOOST classes after school for Elementary?

A: We are not going to start BOOST in the first quarter due to cleaning requirements and adjustments of students and faculty. We will re-evaluate as the year progresses.

Q: Will students have lockers this year?

A: Yes, but with no decorations this year due to cleaning specifications.

Q: For those that choose virtual, will students be able to reach out to the teacher to speak with them via Canvas or so the teacher can visually help with an assignment?

A: Yes, the teacher will schedule a time to meet with their virtual students or the virtual students can actually ask questions during class time.

Q: Will classrooms have some students that are virtual or will virtual students have their own "class?"

A: In most cases, classes will have virtual students along with on-campus students. Students have been placed because we feel that the teacher would be the best for them - on campus or virtual.
