Why Do You Believe What You Believe?

August 14, 2018

Throughout the history of the Christian church, there have been misconceptions about Christianity.  In the first century, Roman citizens thought Christians were cannibals due to the words they would say while participating in communion.  In response to that, Peter wrote to the Christians in Rome these words:

"But sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence;"  -1 Peter 3:15

It is safe to say that there are still misconceptions about Christianity in our culture today.  Therefore, we are called to be able to answer those questions lovingly and respectfully as Christ's ambassadors to this world (2 Corinthians 5:20).  So I am excited to announce that every Tuesday of this school year, we will address a different question or topic relating to Christianity or Christian apologetics through this YouTube video series.

We will tackle difficult questions like, "If God is good and powerful, why is there evil and suffering in the world?"  "Isn't it arrogant for Christians to think they know the only way to get to heaven?"  "How do we know the events recorded in the Bible are historically accurate?"  All of these questions are great questions, and we will have a great time discovering the answers to them together this year!

You can follow me on Twitter at @EvanPierceSBA, check this blog, or subscribe to my classroom YouTube page to follow this video series throughout the year.  Videos will be released every Tuesday.

See you Tuesday!

Mr. Pierce
