High School Fine Arts Trip: Germany & Austria

cms-rr-GAS15
Led by our fine arts teachers, the 2015-2016 High School Fine Arts trip will be during Spring Break 2016 (March 24- April 2) and will feature a tour of art, music and drama sites in Austria and Germany. Students will visit Salzburg, Austria, home of Mozart and many "Sound of Music" filming sites and Vienna, Austria home to numerous artists and composers, as well as, the capital of European opera. Students will visit many famous castles and cathedrals, museums of amazing art and cultural experiences. We will also visit sites in Germany that reflect the rich artistic culture of the fine arts in both historical and contemporary settings. Students will also visit Dachau concentration camp and make a traditional German pastry in a hands-on cooking school.
This will be an amazing trip for any 9-12th grade student who is taking at least one semester of a Fine Art class (HS Chorale, Art, Drama, HS Band or Praise Band). Registration will be in September and students interested in going will receive a packet of information during orientation. Packets will also be given out during the first week of school. Students must have a current passport by December 2015. Please let your Fine Arts teacher know if you are interested in going by September 1st. If you have questions, please contact Melody Horne.

Private Music Instruction

MS_SOA_Music_Instruments_2CL If you are interested in weekly private music instruction for your child(ren) please don't forget to add them to our list. We offer lessons for piano, voice, violin, guitar, bass guitar, drums/percussion, hammered dulcimer and we can arrange other lessons if requested.  We will have a table set up during Elementary, Middle School and High School registrations with information and sign-up sheets. If your child is already taking lessons with one of our teachers and you want to continue with that teacher, you may let them know and your name will be added to the list. Please include a phone number so we can contact you to schedule the lesson time. Enjoy the rest of your summer and we'll see you soon!

Wanted: Volunteer Photographers!

Do you have a passion for photography and find yourself at all kinds of events, camera in-hand? If so, we need your help!

With so many events happening all of the time here at Silverdale, our desire is to capture as much as possible in order to preserve the history we're making here every day. Between our three yearbooks, social media, and our website, just to name a few, there is a constant need for these images. We need parents who are free both during and after school hours, willing to shoot everything from field trips to sporting events to special events like Donuts for Dads, and much more. If this sounds like something you're interested in, please contact our Director of Communications, Daniel Ashworth, by email for more information and to discuss what options might work best for you. We hope you'll consider joining forces with other parents here in helping to preserve the precious memories of our students.
