In high school Art 1, students explore the art elements and principles, study artists around the world, make and identify different types of art, talk about their own art and their classmates' art, share ideas about art and learn to appreciate art through reflections. Through these procedures, concepts, and making of art students ultimately learn that "God is the original Artist, the prime Master Craftsman, Art is Beautiful, Art Glorifies God, Artistic Ability is God-given and Art is a Skill."
Art 2 is a more independently driven class setting. Students will learn how to work with themes and student-choice based art while starting to develop their own unique style with various combinations of art techniques and methods.
Art 3 is for the advanced art students who have completed Art 2 and who desire to further their studies in the visual arts. This course focuses on developing the student’s originality, craftsmanship, and ability to create two and three dimensional works using the elements of art and principles of design. Students will explore the elements (Line, Shape & Form, Value, Color, Space, and Texture) while understanding the proper way to express themselves through each. Students will also learn to understand the way artists use Principles (Balance, Unity, Contrast, Emphasis, Pattern, and Movement & Rhythm) to bring the elements together to create a successful piece of art.
