Instructional Support

Recognizing Every Studentis unique

Every student brings unique strengths and deserves a learning journey filled with care, understanding, and joyful growth. This program is built on gentle layers of support - from thoughtful classroom accommodations and small-group assistance for students with learning differences to nurturing, specialized spaces for those with more intensive needs. We blend proven strategies and an inclusive atmosphere to create environments where each learner feels seen, valued, and empowered. Together, we’re building a community where curiosity blossoms, confidence grows, and every student feels at home.

Layers of Support

"As a parent of both a gifted student and a child with a learning disability, I’m incredibly grateful for how equally supported both of my children are on this campus. Within the first month of school, my daughter’s teacher and the Instructional Support team identified her learning challenges and recommended the Resource program. Though her confidence took a hit early on as she noticed her peers picking up concepts more quickly, the program became a safe space where she was seen, supported, and encouraged. By year’s end, she was working at grade level, and even asked to attend summer tutoring with the same teachers. The care and attention her teachers gave her made all the difference. She’s now thriving, thanks to the intentionality of this incredible program."

A DynamicPartnership

The Instructional Support Department is a program designed to provide students with a multi-tiered system of support. These are services that will help students achieve academic success and can be accessed through several pathways. The Instructional Support Department works in conjunction with the classroom teachers, parents, principals, and any current therapy/therapists to provide academic support for the students of Silverdale Baptist Academy.  This support is designed to help each student achieve academic success and to reach their God-given potential.

Work BasedLearning

The WBL Program offers the opportunity for students to gain hands-on “21st-century” workplace skills and to test their academic knowledge in the real world.  The WBL program has been designed to promote students’ success in both postsecondary education and careers. This program centers on varying levels of engagement from community businesses and industry to provide authentic learning experiences for students. Employer engagement experiences range from career speakers and tours to internships and other forms of work experience. The Impact program partners with TN Vocational Rehabilitation to provide Pre-Employment Transition Services.

Students have the opportunity work off-campus as well as complete jobs on campus.  A few of the WBL experiences include monthly volunteer opportunities at Snack Packs Ministries, JA Henry YMCA Food and Fun Kitchen, Working in the school garden and greenhouse, Field trips to practice money management, and Post-Secondary College visits.

We Are ALLSilverdale

All students in our multi‑tiered instructional support program from those benefiting from classroom accommodations to those enrolled in Impact and Bridging programs gain tremendous enrichment from Silverdale’s diverse activities. Whether joining clubs, sports teams, fine arts, or outdoor education activities, they engage in meaningful social interactions, build confidence, and develop new skills in a nurturing setting grounded in Silverdale’s pillars of discipleship, excellence, and integrity. Participation in these extracurricular opportunities reinforces classroom learning, creates rich mentorship moments with caring adults, and fosters a genuine sense of belonging where every learner feels empowered, connected, and encouraged to shine both inside and outside the classroom.

OccupationalTherapy

Our on-site Occupational Therapist addresses fine motor strength and coordination, visual perception deficits, spatial deficits, attention deficits, sensory processing needs, motor planning, skills that require bilateral hand use, and cross-body skills.  Occupational Therapy at SBA can help address needs students may have impacting their success in the classroom. There is an additional fee for families who use the occupational therapy program.
Mrs. Parker works closely with our Impact students to provide NeuroNet weekly.  NeuroNet programs help students achieve automaticity in skills such as reading, handwriting, and math, allowing them to focus on understanding and applying knowledge rather than struggling with basic skills. NeuroNet can help children develop learning readiness, improve perceptual-motor skills, and address challenges in areas like auditory processing disorders, speech delays, and developmental delays.

Neurodiversity Celebration

Each year we take time to celebrate our uniqueness by hosting a special guest in chapel. Recently, Zion Redington, member of the USA Wheelchair Rugby team and Silver medalist, shared how he has used the principle of diligence to overcome a disability and how God has used his weakness to do great things.
