PreservingChildhood

Silverdale's educational philosophy and teaching practices are designed to create a love for learning through rich literature, outdoor education, experiential learning, and extra curricular enrichment. In our caring and supportive environment where we see the whole child, students have the freedom to grow academically, spiritually, and socially. All classes are taught through the lens of a biblical worldview, helping them see God's hand in all areas of their development.

Respect for theChild

There is nothing more foundational to our teaching philosophy than treating children as individuals with their own unique personalities, interests, and capabilities. We emphasize the importance of respecting children's innate curiosity and love for learning. This philosophy guides how we approach the child in our presentation of materials and in shaping a child's heart. Short and focused lessons are more effective in holding the attention of students and promote better retention of material. Project-based, hands-on, active participation, and relational learning are alive and well in our curriculum and on our campus.

"Enrolling at Silverdale has been truly life-changing - not only for our son but for our entire family. We've watched him thrive in an environment that nurtures his academic and artistic development in addition to his spiritual growth. He now sees his God-given purpose more clearly and is inspired to live a meaningful, values-driven life. He is challenged to grow, lead, and do all things for the glory of God. That is something we could never put a price on."Andrew and Lindsey Croy, Elementary Parents

A Charlotte MasonApproach

Children are born persons, created in the image of God, with an appetite for knowledge. It is our job as educators and administrators to provide a feast for each child. We believe education is an atmosphere, a discipline, a science of relations, and a life - a life fed with a generous curriculum. These beliefs founded by the British educational philosopher, Charlotte Mason, transcend time with tried and true methodology. In the classroom, this philosophy looks like using rich literature, narration, memorizing poetry, nature studies, understanding classical artistic expression, and learning the basics for critical thinking and problem solving.  With this approach, we preserve childhood, create a school that feels like family, and fuel the imagination, because we believe in every child
