Silverdale Names Jon Massey as Silverdale High School Baseball Coach

We are pleased to announce that Jon Massey has accepted the position as Silverdale’s High School Varsity Baseball Coach. With a strong coaching background in our community, we are convinced that he will add another layer of success to an already solid baseball program.

Along with his coaching responsibilities, Coach Massey will be teaching in our Instructional Support department. He has been at Ooltewah High School for the past 17 years working in special education and brings a strong work ethic with a solid high school and college level coaching resume. As the head baseball coach at Ooltewah Massey had a 79-46 record over a five-season stretch. His 2006 team won the district, region and sectional championships and placed 7th in the state. As head softball coach he led the Owls to a record of 180 wins to just 45 losses over another five-season stretch. In that time his teams won multiple district, regional and sectional championships finishing 3rd in the state in 2015 and 2018 and 5th in the state in 2017. He has also served on the baseball staff at Cleveland State Community College.

Coach Massey was a former SEC baseball player for the University of Tennessee and earned his B.S. in Sociology from The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga before completing his Master of Education in Special Education from Lee University. He and his wife, Stephanie, are members of Silverdale Baptist Church active at the North Ooltewah Campus.

Coach Massey brings to Silverdale a history of player development and a proven track record of winning. We are equally excited that he and his staff will continue to move forward with our vision statement of preparing young men to be warriors for Christ through our core values of discipleship, excellence, and integrity.

Join us in providing a warm Silverdale welcome to Jon and his family!
