Operation Orchard

Operation Orchard LOGO

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes club at Silverdale sponsors a toy drive each year for the 570 students at Orchard Knob Elementary School here in Chattanooga. This will be our 6th year of this great event that has given many of our students, faculty, and staff memories that they will never forget. The children at Orchard Knob are mostly from underprivileged families and some of them do not receive any Christmas gifts at all. This service project is one of the most special events for our students because they get to love on these students and see their faces as they receive their gift. We will be delivering the Toys and have a special Christmas celebration to share the love and message of Christmas with the students at Orchard Knob on December 14th. We are asking that Silverdale students to buy gifts in the $10 - $20 range, following the guidelines below:

  • Pre-school bring gifts for Pre-K and Kindergarten
  • 9th grade bring gifts for Kindergarten and 1st grade
  • 10th grade & 6th grade bring gifts for 1st and 2nd grade
  • 11th grade & 7th grade bring gifts for 3rd and 4th grade
  • 12th grade & 8th grade bring gifts for 4th and 5th grade

Students can leave the unwrapped gifts with the receptionist at any of the school entrances. Monetary donations are also accepted. We will be accepting gifts up to Friday, December 9th. Search social media using #oktoys to see posts from previous years and to share your pictures and videos. Thank you for your support of these precious students at Orchard Knob.

From the Head of School

HansardProfile Family and Friends of the Academy: Do you have an old truck that you would like to donate to Silverdale Baptist Academy?  You would be helping us out greatly, and you can count the donation as a tax deduction for your home or business. We currently have a truck that was donated over 10 years ago and while we have taken great care of it, it is simply worn out.  We can no longer use it anywhere other than our campus.  We use this truck daily. Please contact Chris Neighbors at 892-2319 extension 2223 or by email if you would like to contribute.  We appreciate how supportive our families continue to be. Blessings, Becky Hansard Head of School

Share Your Christmas Food Drive Results

SYC

Thank you to everyone for your generosity in this year’s Share Your Christmas canned food drive!  We collected a total of 13,977 lbs. of canned food and $3,570 in monetary donations. With the monetary donations converted to can pounds, we all contributed a school-record 31,113 lbs. to this year's canned food drive! Again, we thank you for your giving spirit as we support those less fortunate in the Chattanooga community this Christmas season and beyond. Thank you!

What’s New With Outdoor Education

Mr. Overman and his Physics class did some experiements outside this past week. This lab was an experiment to calculate coefficient of static friction for various objects/materials on four different ramp materials.  The incline angle of the ramp can be used with trigonometry to calculate the friction coefficient. Thank you Mr. Overman!
Keep wondering at creation and worshiping the Creator!
